Scorpio810,
Again, thank you for this helpful information.
I obtained a language translation and your post is helpful.
I will retain this in my QeT notes.

I intend however to obtain a more powerful PC in the coming week or so.
Certainly QeT runs far better on a low-resource PC than any CAD solution would. :-)

The wonderful thing about using Linux is of course that previously-used PCs which are not sufficient for current Windows versions are abundant, and will run Linux very well.

Wishing good health and all success to the QeT team!

Thank you Scorpio810.

I would strongly prefer to use QeT at work.

Presently I am not employed due to health problems.

I find however that QeT is not accepted by employers because open-source solutions are not trusted.
And few industrial/commercial employers in the U.S. are aware of QeT, trusting instead a CAD solution such as AutoCAD.

They do not trust solutions they do not know and understand.

For my own purposes I would use QelectroTech exclusively.
For electrical diagrams QeT is superior in my opinion.

If (when) I am able to use QeT profitably (commercially) in the future (which is my intention) then you can expect to see further donations and financial support for QeT development.

I am working to create English-language user-documentation (in Sphinx format) to offer as  contribution to the QeT team. I hope that such contribution may help the QeT user community to grow.

I decided recently to focus this effort on auto-numbering, as a beginning-point.
Your instructional videos have been very helpful.
I download and collect them as reference.

I believe that QelectroTech is important and very much worthy of support.

Now I understand.

Formula %sequ_1 returns a numeric serial series which continues without regard to the folio.

Formula %sequf_1 returns a numeric serial series which is specific to the folio.

Thank you Joshua for this helpful information.

On my low-resource PC, this later version (0.9) is noticeably faster in response.

(duplicate message, please pardon)

@scorpio810,

Success!
I now have installed ver 0.9, with much sincere thanks, and my warmest regards.
I can see the improved quality immediately.

Best wishes to you and all the QelectroTech team!

Can anyone provide a procedure to install PPA for 0.9-dev ?

I am using Ubuntu Linux.
I do not have the knowledge required to install from the  github page.

What I have done:

a) navigated to https://qelectrotech.org/download.html

and from there to https://github.com/qelectrotech/qelectr … r/releases

b) downloaded Source Code in tar package

c) extracted files from tar package:  qelectrotech-source-mirror-9-dev-2022-04-22

d) executed script:  packaging_script_Debian_Ubuntu_Windows.sh

To all prompts I answered “YES” , with this exception:
“Would you like to build Window packages n/Y?”    // to this I responded NO

e) re-booted my PC

result: No success.
My installed QeT version remains V 0.8

Thank you to anyone who can help me gain this knowledge and make a successful installation.

It will be interesting to learn the answer.

Vbxler,

a) I opened your project.

b) the same problem occurs: folio 3 is shifted greatly to the right.
This is true even after I invoke CNTRL + 9.

c) I created a new (fifth) folio, 5/5.
I then copy-pasted the content of folio 3/5 into folio 5/5.
The identical problem appears then in 5/5.

So this seems to confirm that there is something strange about the specific content of folio 3/5.

If I encountered this problem in a typical CAD software (such as AutoCAD), I would suspect a 'stray' drawing entity located outside the drawing border area, causing a zoom/extents to zoom out far enough to encompass the stray entity.

QelectroTech is not CAD however, and I do not have a guess what may cause this problem.

I hope this may help in a small way.
I regret that I have no answer.

(I am using QeT ver 0.80 in Ubuntu Linux)

Vbxler,

The problem appears to perhaps be the zoom factor..

Please try:
MENU > Display > Fit In View
or,
CNTRL + 9

@jarek ,

I wish to add my agreement if I may, that QelectroTech is a magnificent achievement and a superior tool.

I created electrical diagrams for control and automation for years using CAD, primarily AutoCAD. QeT is a very different approach, a different paradigm. And it is superior to using CAD in every way.

The intelligent design of QeT only begins to reveal itself as you learn more about how to apply this wonderful tool.

We are all fortunate that QeT team members have both a deep understanding of electrical design and the software developer's ability to evolve the QeT codebase.

It is my hope that the QeT user community will grow internationally and provide greater support to the heroes of the QelectroTech development team. And by this we will all benefit.

Thank you QeletroTech team for your devotion to this advancement in the art of electrical design.

Hello all,

...I have tried %l for the row and %c for the column but the formula only returns itself.

If I may offer...
When a formula "only returns itself", this means that it is not a valid formula for the specific purpose.

This is to say that %l and %c are not applicable to conductor numbering.
(these formula are specifically applicable to element-numbering)

I believe it is correct to say that the formulas applicable to conductor-numbering are:

No Scheme (%id)  (this is the folio position in the project, for example sheet 2)

        Number Format (%sequ1)

        Number Format - Folio (%sequF_1)

        Folio (%F)

        Plant (%M)

        Text

I believe this is correct in all details, and I invite correction by those with better understanding than I.

I hope this is helpful for you.

Hello, and warm greetings to the QeT team and all the QelectroTech user community.

I would be humbly grateful for an explanation of the meaning (resolved value) of the formula %sequf_1 as applied to conductor auto-numbering?

Many thanks!

Thank you lowVoltage, and take care of you.

Positive wishes also for your health and that of the QeT team, sir.

I have a passion to help grow the QeT community of users and supporters and to contribute in any way I am able.

Powerful, effective tools are a thing of beauty and should be respected as such.

I have discovered the solution to enable conductor auto-numbering!

QelectroTech is in my opinion a superior tool for creation of electrical diagrams.

I have planned to contribute some English-language user instruction texts to share with the QeT user community, and my plans were delayed due to health problems.
Now however, I am motivated more than ever to do so.

And now I can add to that work a more detailed explanation of conductor auto-numbering. Thank you Qelectrotech team for your continued work to develop this wonderful tool!

Thank you for responding scorpio810, I am using version
0.80-rc+34eb14a97c957a06d79751d3

Thank you again for your help.

I have not been successful to achieve conductor auto-numbering.

Is auto-numbering of conductors a fully implemented feature in Qelectrotech version 5.9.5?

Can anyone please list for me the valid variables which apply to conductor numbering?

With great appreciation, thank you for your attention.

@scorpio810

Thank you for posting this helpful information!

This appears very interesting.
I was not aware of Treesheets.
I have installed it this morning.

The ability to create free-form tables for use within QeT would be very useful for me.
I must try this.
Thank you for sharing!

I note that any field will sort numerically.
It is important to express 0..9 in two digits..  01, 02, 03, etc.

This is very positive for my purposes.

Also of course it's possible to publish multiple reports on the same dataset, each sorted according to different criteria.

This also is particularly useful for me.   :-)

And quite by accident I discover that the nomenclature table, once inserted, is dynamic!

I did not know this until now.

To be clear...
when a nomenclature inserted into a folio includes a specific field, for example Label, if the label is revised at the element, then the displayed data in the nomenclature will change also.

I had mistakenly assumed that the nomenclature was static from the time of insertion.

This is very interesting for me indeed.

vyt.sima sir, this is most helpful!!!

I hope that your day will be happy and blessed.

@vyt.sima, your solution is extremely valuable and welcome to me.
And it does provide a solution for the need which was my reason for posting.
Again, thanks to you.

In order however to be more specific I have revised the title of this thread to "nomenclature: possible to specify elements by name?"

I see that the field in the table we are searching is element_type.
I am interested to know if it is possible to search for other fields.

And what then would be the name for the field which contains the Element Name?

@vyt.sima,

I have tried this solution and it has worked well for me.

Once again, much thanks!

vyt.sima,

Thank you for this response and information!
I know only very little sql but I do see from your example how this could be done.

Very warm regards and much thanks!
