Topic: Qelectrotech crashes anytime I try to open a file or export to pdf

Hello I've run into an issue with QET, I've been using it for a while with no problems but now all of a sudden I can't open a file or export to pdf, I believe it's a problem with trying to use file explorer through Qet, I tried excel and other programs and they didn't have any problems, QET crashes every time I've tried.


Here are my system specs:

I was running QET Dev 0.90 before, then uninstalled and switched to Dev 0.100 but the problem persists.


One thing that might be of note is that I was running Avast before and everything worked, then I upgraded to premium, used the driver updater and updated a bunch of drivers, as well as updated windows I don't remember which update I was running before but I was mostly up to date.


I've tried running QET as Admin and disabling Avast but that didn't fix it. I'll attach the QET logs as well as the crashdumps from windows.


Does anyone know what could be causing it?

Hi Santiago,

I couldn't reproduce the crashes you mention on my Win 10 laptop, open project .qet files, export to PDF works good.

Have you tried on other machine?

Hi Scorpio sorry for the delay, I've tried close to everything I even resorted to formating the problem PC and doing a clean windows install, but to no Avail.

I've tried everything from version 0.070 to 0.100 32 and 64 bits, portables everything but nothing I did worked, it's a problem with this machine and I can't for the life of me figure out what.

I installed QET 0.100 x64 on my home PC and it doesn't give me trouble:

I'm going to try to run 2 virtual machines on the problem PC and see what happens I'll run 1 windows install and 1 Linux and see what happens.

I experience the same issue since installing an update on windows 10.

I updated today my windows 10 old HP laptop elite book and I can't saw any crash:

Strange.
It seems like an issue related to the OS since other people experience it.
Unfortunatley I have no knowledge in programming and I have to wait for other people who can hopefully resolve this issue.

I installed QET installer 0.100.0 dev and tried on latest Windows 11 development environment "WinDev2301Eval" VM, and QET work fine, very very strange... I can't crash it..

I've seen a lot of guys with other programs that crash lately just on error code 0xc0000005 ...

After taking a look in Bug Tracker the issue seems to be somehow connected to Avast antivirus.
Afer uninstalling Avast everthing works well now.

Good afternoon. Avast antivirus has this problem. On versions 0.8 and 0.9 and 0.100, it is not possible to save the project to a PDF file, and on version 0.7, it is possible to save to PDF, but not to print. For now, the only solution is to remove the antivirus or print it on another computer that does not have this antivirus.

A little research shows that it's not just QET that is impacted by the latest version of Avast...

In my case the problem was solved by running the avast actualization (program not virus database)
