Topic: Creating new element and importing dxr file

Dear Qet team,
Thank you so much for providing such powerfull open acess tool for making schematic.
I have the following doubts while designing a schematic:
1. I have designed the schematic with your tool. However in printout, the elements and letters are coming very much small size and can't able to read also. Is there away to increase the size of elements?
2. I couldn't able to import dxf file. It is showing warning and saying that large file will take more time but it didn't import after a hour also.
3. I made a schematic and after that I have edited few elements using element editor. However it is not replicating in the schematic due to this I need to delete and connect again. So, is there away to automatically adjust in the schematic?
4. What is the best size of elements for clear visibility ?
5. In element editor how to group all items together since when I use this element in schematic the texts of that element changing position.
Thanks in advance for helping the same.

Re: Creating new element and importing dxr file

What Operating-System and what QET-Version do you use?
Menu -> Help -> about QElectroTech -> Tab: Version
Then copy contents and post here.

1. (second part): use QET_ElementScaler

2.: see (and read) longest thread in "Import" - forum

3.: pull the new/reworked element in Circuit-Editor. QET will ask, if you want to replace existing elements.

4.: depends on number of rows and columns you use: You decide!

5.: there is no grouping-function in Element-Editor (yet)

Increase or decrease number or the size of rows and columns change element the scale and other text on folio.

What you see on the screen is what will be printed, whatever the print size, A4, A5, etc.

An hour is a very long time. A couple of questions, were you using DxfToElmt or dxf2elmt?
How big was this dxf file and what was in it? If the DXF was a full drawing, I imagine importing that as an element wouldn't be very efficient, you would probably want to break it up into components and import it.

Any change you would be able to share the dxf file (privately if you can't share it publicly) I can try and do some testing against dxf2elmt.

There's no ability to group element components as such, instead, try turning off (unselecting) Maintain visual rotation (see image below) of each text field.

Unselecting Maintain visual rotation causes an element's text fields to remain orientated according to the element's original layout.

Devs, if you read this: I think possibly the wording "Maintain visual rotation" is a little unintuitive (A tick box labelled 'Rotate text with element' - and logic configured in the opposite sense) might be more intuitive. It might also be nice to be able to user-select the default logic for element text in a system wide config file, but just ideas - for another time. nomicons/smile
