Topic: drawing cabinet

Hello...
I try Qelectrotech and seems nice software.
I like to draw cabinet too, to perform how the elements will fit.
But when I put some elements in sheet I can't find a way to measure dimensions?
As the project is new the size of cabinet will be choosen to fit elements in.
I'am miss something?

..and another question? Is this forum in French only?!? I can't find english or other languages. And I'm in doubt that software is used by french people only.

Slavko.

Re: drawing cabinet

Hi and welcome Slavko,

I think separate section forum in two language: french and english isn't a best way for me, when i see logs i find many users use google for translate ...
You can ask questions in English, it's not a problem.
For your problem QET not have any drawing tool to real scale, btw you draw a symbol for rating scale or use conductor to specific size, or use DXFtoelmt utils for convert your scene or cabinet in QET element.

http://qelectrotech.org/download.html.en
Element DXF Converter

The converter element is a small utility that converts a DXF element to a elmt element.
Sources - platform-independant
ImportDXF - binary executable file for Gnu/Linux X86_64 (require libraries Qt 4.8.6) and  Add single permission to  file ($ chmod u+x filename)

ImportDXF.exe - binary executable file for Windows.

Re: drawing cabinet

Hello...
I tried to draw some components (mor or less just blocks with dimensions) and seems to work. If I draw cabinet too then I can try to fit all elements to see if I have enought place. But can't do any measurment (actualy I just need to check if component's fit to cabinet.)
About google translate... I use that when I need it. But As my english is far from perfect then translating from english to french (to ask question) may be so bad and question missunderstanding.
So if there is no english forum, and posting english question in french forum is ok then I have no problem...

Slavko.

Re: drawing cabinet

Yes, is dificult , but you could use a external program like graduated ruler
https://www.kde.org/applications/graphics/kruler/

Re: drawing cabinet

Hello...

I just draw simple ruller as component. So it's in same dimension as all other regards of zoom.

Re: drawing cabinet

Hello...
Is it possible to move (place) component out of the grid?
As if component is not 10mm wide I cannot stack more of them without gap.
As I have 13 three phase fuses and each is 53.1mm wide I can stack them only to 60mm space so in each fuse I have 6.9mm free space on drawing and accumulated over 13 fuses the space come near 90mm wide.

Re: drawing cabinet

You could try to change diagram scale.
Increase  lines number  and column number  or size in title block config, reduce  element size in diagram .

Re: drawing cabinet

Hmmm....
there seems to be none of settings for scale! Only column/row X nn pixel.
..runing QET v0.4-dev+svn3309 compiled on sept 15 2014, on ubuntu 14.04

...hate to use two different cad programs to draw same product...

Re: drawing cabinet

Just increase column/row  size X nn pixel or number column/row.

Your version is obsolete now is 3624 version

Re: drawing cabinet

Hello...
I updated to next stable version. (ppa) Now was v0.4-rc2+svn3624
But grid spacing is same no mater how I set diagram property.
As default I have 18x60 pixel/16x80pixel and I changed to 36x60pixel/32x80 pixel. I got bigger workspace but grid is stil on 10mm. (no change) so I try with 36x30pixel/32x40pixel and got original size workbench but the grid is still 10mm
Slavko.

...about translation I have no idea how much work is to do, and tools needed...

Re: drawing cabinet

Hello...
Maybe there is missunderstanding what I want...
Just see example drawing...

Thanks

Re: drawing cabinet

Hello...
I know that I can change element size.
But I need to draw cabinet to estimate required size. So the component should be of right size and in my case stacked together without gap. But seems that this is not possible with QET.
Slavko.

Re: drawing cabinet

Is possible, but we need add disable snap to grid fonction in code.

Re: drawing cabinet

well currently is not possible for me nomicons/smile

Re: drawing cabinet

... actulay the best could be custom grid setting.

Re: drawing cabinet

No, we plan to release  0.4 finale next month, but we  can add a button to enable or disable snap to grid element only.
Is time to stopping add news features, otherwise it will never come out.
If we have time for that. nomicons/tongue

Hi,

Get the archive source at https://download.qelectrotech.org/qet/builds/
https://download.qelectrotech.org/qet/b … 127.tar.gz
Extract
Get Qt linguist
http://qt-project.org/doc/qt-4.8/lingui … ators.html
In lang folder clic to qet_sl.ts, he open program to translate.
You could also open qet_en.ts for looking english translations.
Just send me latest qet_sl.ts.

Re: drawing cabinet

Hi Eslavko,

at the moment, the easiest way to make an accurate drawing of your cabinet/mounting plate is to use a CAD software like QCAD :
http://www.qcad.org
or LibreCAD (is also in the Ubuntu-repositories) :
http://librecad.org/cms/home.html
Then you can export the drawing as a dxf-file and convert it to an elmt-file so that you can import it in QElectroTech as an element. You can find the dxf/elmt converter here :
https://download.qelectrotech.org/qet/b … /ImportDXF

Re: drawing cabinet

Hi Eslavko,
i added this fonction: disable all snap to grid in diagram by moving element and pressed ctrl key.  (Revision 3710)
I has just improved patch file send by Yannis.

Well done Laurent,
It's time to throw away my qet fork :-)

Re: drawing cabinet

There is another way to do this, as you can make drawings on 0.1 mm by changing the number of points. (That way i do make A3 forms) my standard folio is 8*152 and 6*162. (i am printing them on A4, to get the enough elements on a page)
by changing these numbers you can make it to scale, however a drawback is that this is printer dependent so you will have to find out how much points are used. and horizontal and vertical can be different.

Re: drawing cabinet

the functionality to disable the grid snaping is very nice and make for me obsolete the use of an external dxf editor (draftsight and co.) to draw the cabinet mounting plate.
Thanks!

I confirme that the dxf export format of LibreCAD and QCAD is NOT working with the dxf--> elmt converter.
I've tried Draftsight, nice free software (but not libre!), and I have some problems to find the right configuration so that the conversion to elmt realy works fine.
Conversion works but is not right. At the moment I have no time to spend with Draftsight configuration.

I think I can now make easily a clean mounting plate drawing only with QET and the elmt format. Coooool nomicons/cool

Re: drawing cabinet
