Topic: Text Size and Alignment in Projects

Previously (last year), I successfully created, edited, and printed a big project with a large number of manually created elements.

Now I need to return to this project to make some changes. However, when I opened it, I found that the text no longer matches in size and position. This affects the entire project, including both the elements themselves in the Element Editor and the positions of labels and textfields, as well as the text in title blocks.

It seems that the program’s settings are overwriting the text settings in the project.

Please advise how to fix this and how to avoid similar situations in the future. Thanks in advance!

Re: Text Size and Alignment in Projects

Educated guess:
The fonts used when creating the element and resulting project are not available on the system you are using now.

Especially one commercial OS often replaces fonts from one release to another, while the name stays the same.
For example: "Sans Serif" is not the name of a specific font but for the style of a font without serifs. The real font behind that name can be found somewhere deep inside the system.

That's why we ship some fonts with QET for a while and recommend using one of the Liberation fonts or Osifont with QET, so that elements and schematics look the same over the time and on all supported systems.

Re: Text Size and Alignment in Projects

I think I've found the problem. Text rendering depends on the screen scale of the computer on which the QET project is open, as well as on the scale setting within QET itself.
If the monitor's scale is greater than 125% or the QET setting is set to anything other then “No rounding,” the text scales incorrectly and extends beyond the element's boundaries, as shown in my screenshot above.
I've tested it on two machines I have:
Win 10 with 1920x1080 display set to 125%
Win 11 with 2560x1440 display set to 150%
Both machine are running QElectroTech V 0.100.0 and same project.
QET rounding is set "Rounding to 0,75 and more" - With only this setting QET interface is look nice on my screen
I've opened the same project and it has the same text scaling issue on both systems.
The issue is resolved if I set QET to "no rounding"
But unfortunately QET interface icons and  text are not nice and distorted on my screen without rounding :-(
I also found an old topic about similar issue. I read it, but I couldn't find a solution
https://qelectrotech.org/forum/viewtopic.php?id=1004
Do you have any advice on that?

P.S. While I was experimenting with scaling setting in QET I notice that there is a warning exactly about this issue, but only in French. Maybe it is not a bad idea, to translate it to other languages also ;-)
