Topic: Qt version 5.6.2 is a long time support version...

I have reported (as QET bugs) some strange crashes when closing QET, and now experienced another one.
At the closed bug reports there are notes mentioning it is probably a problem in Qt, probably fixed in Qt 7.1 something

Problem is that this distro and probably other will for long time still use 5.6.2 as it is a long time support version.

It is not trivial to change Qt version in a distro, never mind for the end user to do it.  Dependencies...

So maybe developers should ponder if something can be done so it dont crash on systems using Qt 5.6.2.

The problems seem not to affect using QET or saving file, just when closing QET and QtDesigner points out different places, strange.

So, well, it is not very important, it just looks less perfect.
However maybe it is not even noticeable to end user if he do not run QET in debug mode.

Re: Qt version 5.6.2 is a long time support version...

Qt version 5.6.2 is a long time support version -> YES ! BUT you need to contact Mageia Qt mainstream for your Qt bugs, they can merge upstream patchs for solve your crashes, like Debian maintainers wich I have reported in the bugtracker !

As you know, I build my packages QET on many platforms and many distros :

Debian :

  • Stable     = Qt 5.3     (32 and 64 bits packages)

  • Unstable  = Qt 5.7.1  (32 and 64 bits packages + debug packages)

Ubuntu :

  • Yakkety   = Qt 5.6.1   (32 and 64 bits + debug packages)

  • Xenial     = Qt 5.5.1    (32 and 64 bits + debug packages)

  • Trusty     = Qt 5.2.1    (32 and 64 bits + debug packages)

Windows      = Qt 5.7 -> push it to Qt 5.8.0 soon     (32 and 64 bits packages)

macOS         = Qt 5.6.2 -> I just pushed to Qt 5.8.0  (64 bits packages)

FYI, I don't see stranges crashes when closing QET program in macOS with Qt 5.6.2 or in Debian with Qt 5.6.2 version, only after upgrade to Qt 5.7.1 on Debian.
