Topic: Windows XP problem

Good evening, i have trouble running the version 0.51 development on xp with SP3, i have tried the portable and the install version, running one of it the first time i received a message indicating me that the dwmapi.dll wasn't found, so, "solved it", another message indicating unable to find the entry point in msvcrt.dll. I have tried this version on a win 7 machine and it's great, there's the usefull option for the entire copy of a page.
Any subgestion? Can i run this version on a XP Machine?
Thanks
Lorenzo

Windows XP is supported, I patch Qt for this in my cross-compiler env:

It's a little more work for me, but as long as it's possible for me, QElectroTech will support Windows XP for our users, and I think especially for those in education, schools and for all those in developing countries, or for those which not have money to buy a new machine or can't install Gnu/Linux and need to learn electricity, pneumatic, hydraulic, etc.. nomicons/smile

Re: Windows XP problem

You are right, I tried and have the same issue.
Perhaps after update my cross environment to Qt 5.8

Windows XP isn’t supported anymore as a target since Qt 5.7. If you need to continue supporting Windows XP, you must unfortunately stay with Qt 5.6.

Sorry !
But for the future release I can prepare a Windows XP compatible build.

Re: Windows XP problem

Thank you so much, the portable version for xp of the 0.51 development is great. Thanks

Re: Windows XP problem

I have seen that opening a project created with the version 0.50, some lines and shapes, defined as "solid line" , are converted in dashed line. i have found this kind of difference using also win 7.
Thanks

This is a known issue when a project was created with QET 0.5 and then edited with QET 0.51.
All OS's are concerned, this is a QET issue, not an OS issue.

You have to edit by yourself all dashed lines to make them solid again.

Re: Windows XP problem

Yes, we changed the method to draw basic shapes and modify their XML attributes in the beginning of the version 0.51 devel for more functions and features:

Re: Windows XP problem

Thank you, the problem for the future doesn't exist 'cause now i'm able to use the 0.51.
Thanks:)

XP compatibility is great to have.
There are times you need XP for old programs needed by some old hardware in machines to service/rebuild, and it is good to be able to run QET on same system.  nomicons/smile
