Thank you for the link to the help file. I now realise that a resistor is a simple element (no master/slave). I can use the Add Text box to put in extra details.

I have looked at some Utube videos and the Selection properties for an element shows a Master or Slave tab, these do not appear on my version. The left tab is Information. The extra tab seems to be needed to show cross-referencing.
I am trying to add two text items to an element, for example a resistor R1 and value 1k. There is obviously something basic that I have not followed.
